The well-known Champagne Roederer Brut Premier NV will be replaced from September by the new multi-vintage cuvée called Collection. In contrast to Brut Premier, which consists of a dominant base wine from the latest harvest for a uniform house style and is blended with a number of reserve wines from older vintages, Collection is a numbered cuvée. It is intended to have a slightly different expression each year, depending on the cuvée of wines used to make it.

At the heart of the new cuvée is a "Réserve Perpetuelle", a huge tank that contains a blend of older harvests going back to 2012 and is refilled every year. This introduces a kind of solera system at Roederer, as with sherry - a blend of wines aged for decades that are refreshed annually with wines from the most recent harvest. According to Roederer, the collection should have more freshness and also a somewhat lower dosage. It is 8g/l as opposed to 9g/l for the Brut Premier. Similar to Jacquesson and Krug, the Collection champagne will be numbered. The first will be number 242, as it is based on the 2017 vintage, which was the 242nd harvest since Roederer was founded in 1776.
