London wine and spirits merchant Berry Bros & Rudd (BBR) has opened six luxury rental flats next to its historic shop in the posh St James district. BBR is the UK's oldest wine merchant and has been there since 1698. The flats are in the traditional style of the district. Their amenities include a personal doorman - a "wine concierge" - and the option to book BBR's private dining rooms, which are right next door. Prices for renting one of the flats start at 1,000 pounds (the equivalent of around 1,160 euros) per week, while the penthouse costs 3,750 pounds (the equivalent of around 4,365 euros) per week.

Berry Bros & Rudd, the official wine supplier to the British Royal Family and responsible for the King's wine cellar, has owned No.1 St James's since 1996, where the historic wine storage cellars are located beneath the shop. In 2022, the company built a new warehouse for 14 million bottles in a business park. With a turnover of £220 million in the 2021/2022 financial year, the company made a profit of almost £15 million. BBR says it is the world's largest buyer of en primeur wines, mainly Bordeaux and Burgundy, which are stored for customers in its own cellars.
