The Power 100 ranking of the strongest wine brands compiled by Liv-ex (London International Vintners Exchange) shows a realignment of the global fine wine market. The Corona pandemic, political protests in Hong Kong, disputes over trade tariffs and Brexit led to a return to classic brands, which have regained importance. The Bordeaux Premier Crus Lafite Rothschild, Mouton-Rothschild and Margaux, for example, climbed back into the top 10. Château Petrus made a comeback from 69th place to seventh. Domaine Leroy from Burgundy continues to lead the list. Two re-entries in the top 10 also come from there: Domaine Armand Rousseau in third place and Romanée-Conti in fifth place. Losers are, among others, Ornellaia and Penfolds. Overall, brands from Italy and the USA have gained ground, and the development for champagne is also positive. Two German wineries are also listed in the top 100: Egon Müller (Mosel) in 84th place and, for the first time, Klaus Peter Keller***** (Rheinhessen) in 88th place

The 2021 edition of the Liv-ex Power 100 shows that the market for fine wines is becoming more diverse. Compared to the previous twelve months, the total number of wines rose by 35.6 per cent to 11,839 and the number of producers by 17.5 per cent to 1,668. The new contenders also include the wineries Jos. Prüm, Willi Schaefer (both Mosel) and Forstmeister Geltz Zilliken**** (Saar) from Germany as well as Moric (Burgenland) from Austria.

Liv-Ex is the London-based global trading platform for Fine Wine, where 550 wine merchants from around the world buy and sell top quality wine. The complete list is available at https://www.liv-ex.com/power-100-2021/
