The harvest in Bordelais started this week with the harvest of the white grapes. The red wine harvest should start in the first days of September. Both are about two weeks before the five-year average.

On the northern Rhône, the white wine harvest will start on 24 August, with the red grapes following a few days later. There have been massive problems there over the summer, Nicolas Jaboulet told the website "Drinks Business". The renowned winemaker reported massive oidium and peronospora pressure in many regions of the winegrowing area from late spring, great heat, drought and sunburn damage. The vineyards had completely dried out, he said, and had "turned into deserts".
