The author Cordula Eich, who passed away from cancer in 2023 (Silvia Anthonj), was known not only for her wine books but also for her sparkling wines made from Piwi varieties. Together with her husband Willem Kips, she cultivated grape varieties such as Hibernal, Sauvignac, and Souvignier Gris on half a hectare in Lelystad, Netherlands. The resulting sparkling wines named "MinZeven" were a testament to an uncompromising approach: indigenous yeasts, long aging periods, no filtration, no sulfur, and no dosage.
Now the last bottles from the 2018 and 2019 vintages are available through the Sekthaus Raumland. The German sparkling wine pioneer Volker Raumland was a mentor and friend to her. He accompanied Eich in the vinification, storage, and sparkling of the base wines, which they developed together using traditional handcraft. In total, they produced five vintages together.
Shortly before her death, Cordula Eich asked Volker Raumland to complete the project in her spirit. The last bottles of the MinZeven sparkling wines – the Bruut & Bruizend Gold – were filled at Sekthaus Raumland and made available as a "Gold Edition" after over 60 months of yeast aging. A portion of the sales proceeds goes to the "Rexrodt von Fircks Foundation," which supports mothers with cancer and their children.
Cordula Eich first became known through her wine guide "Super Schoppen Shopper," which reached a wide audience and brought her numerous appearances in the wine industry. Among other things, she served as a juror at the World Bulk Wine Exhibition and as a guest lecturer at the Geisenheim University.
