Katrin Lang from Erbringen in Baden has been elected the 74th German Wine Queen. Luise Böhme from Laucha in the Saale-Unstrut wine-growing region and Juliane Schäfer from Flonheim in Rheinhessen were crowned wine princesses. The final of this year's election took place in front of 700 spectators in the Saalbau in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. For the first time this year, the audience was also allowed to vote. The audience could vote live in the Saalbau as well as online in front of the screens. The event was broadcast live on SWR. A 70-member jury selected the three candidates from the five finalists after several rounds. In the end, Katrin Lang was able to win the election with her sovereign as well as likeable appearance, well-founded expert knowledge and great eloquence.

"With the newly elected German Majesties, we have a strong team that will convincingly represent our domestic wines worldwide," explained Monika Reule, Managing Director of the German Wine Institute (DWI). The three wine experts will complete more than 300 appointments at home and abroad in the next twelve months.
