Thirteen winegrowers' cooperatives and wineries on the Kaiserstuhl are planning a regional branded wine under the name "Pino Magma". To this end, the companies have now founded their own cooperative, in which only winegrowers can become members. It is to work out the concept of the new branded wine, grant licenses and organize the umbrella marketing. According to the "Weinwirtschaft", Pino Magma should be on the shelves on September 1, 2019. As a dry white wine cuvée, it consists of Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc. The base wine should cost between eight and twelve euros, the Réserve at least 15 euros. The branded wine is produced by the individual cooperatives and estates on their own responsibility.

According to the "Weinwirtschaft", each member winery is allowed to determine the blend ratio itself, but may not fall below the 33 percent threshold for either Pinot Gris or Pinot Blanc. The blending of other grape varieties is not permitted. In addition, all grapes must come from Kaiserstuhl vineyards. The values of alcohol and residual sugar as well as the wood content during the ageing process are also specified.

Thomas Weiler, managing director of the Bischoffingen-Endingen WG, was elected as the person responsible for the business and was elected chairman of the Pino Magma cooperative. However, companies wishing to include Pino Magma in their product range do not have to become members of the new cooperative, but only have to meet its licensing conditions. The licence fee is therefore one euro per bottle. Thomas Weiler said he sees the concept "as a unique opportunity to promote the Kaiserstuhl as a unique wine region".
