Together with Geisenheim University, ProWein is currently preparing an international market study. For this purpose, an online survey of exhibitors and visitors to the trade fair was conducted in five languages by the end of January. The survey is intended to provide an assessment of the current situation and an outlook on future developments in international wine markets. For example, the growth expectations for individual countries and the growth opportunities for certain new markets will be examined.

As the leading international trade fair for wines and spirits, "ProWein has extensive contacts with a wide range of market participants," says organiser Messe Düsseldorf. "ProWein now wants to use this pool of expert knowledge to summarise information on the international wine market and make it available to the industry."

Prof. Dr. Simone Loose, head of the Institute for Business Administration and Market Research at Geisenheim University, is implementing the study on behalf of ProWein. "International wine markets are becoming increasingly important for the European wine industry," comments the professor. "Together with ProWein, we are capturing the opinions of industry experts and thus providing sound information on the current and expected development of international wine markets and distribution channels. The combination of the different views of producers on the one hand and buyers on the other provides a unique opinion barometer for the industry."

The results of the study will be presented at the upcoming ProWein, which will take place in Düsseldorf from 19 to 21 March 2017.
