In French supermarkets, sales of wine, cremant and champagne have slumped dramatically in the last days of the curfew. In the first week of April, customers bought a total of 31 percent less wine than before. Sparkling wine was sold 29 per cent less, while sales of champagne shrank by 53 per cent. Experts justify this with the ban on contact, with which social events have been banned throughout France. In contrast, the drive-thru supermarkets, still unusual in Germany, posted record sales. Their wine sales rose by 153 percent during this period. Bag-in-box wines in sizes from two to five liters are also in demand. Their sales rose by 43 percent.
