The Henkell Freixenet company has achieved record sales with the Freixenet, Mionetto and Fürst von Metternich brands in 2021. The global market leader for sparkling wines based in Wiesbaden was able to increase its turnover by eleven percent to 1.3 billion euros. This means that the level is even higher than the pre-Corona year 2019. According to the market research institute IWSR, the company is the market leader for Cava in 98 countries, the market leader for Prosecco in 34 countries and for sparkling wine in 29 countries.

"We are experiencing increased quality awareness in all markets, as well as greater interest in the origin and diversity of wine and sparkling wine. We want to serve this increasing interest with our international portfolio, which stands for almost all origins and methods - from Cava to Champagne, Crémant, Prosecco and German Riesling," commented Dr Andreas Brokemper, CEO of Henkell Freixenet.

The current situation is challenging, but "we see opportunities in the continuing trend towards higher-quality consumption," Brokemper said. Against the background of the current uncertainties, however, a reliable forecast for the year as a whole is hardly possible at present.
