The International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) has published its first estimates for global wine production in 2025. According to this, the expected production volume is between 228 and 235 million hectoliters, with an average of 232 million hectoliters. This represents an increase of about three percent compared to the historically low harvest of 2024. However, it remains seven percent below the five-year average.

Italy remains the world's largest wine producer with 47.3 million hectoliters, followed by France (35.9 million hl) and Spain (29.4 million hl). The USA ranks fourth, while Australia regains fifth place after a weak previous year. Argentina follows in sixth place and is also the largest producer in South America.

Despite regional differences, the OIV expects an overall balanced market situation, as the limited production growth is likely to stabilize inventories. This is important in light of declining demand and ongoing trade uncertainties.

The final figures will be announced by the OIV in the second quarter of 2026 in its annual report "State of the World Vine and Wine Sector.".
