The umbrella organisation of Italian wine consortia Federdoc has unanimously elected Giangiacomo Gallarati Scotti Bonaldi (pictured left) from Veneto as its new president. He succeeds Riccardo Ricci Curbastro (right) from Franciacorta, who resigned from office after 24 years. Giangiacomo Bonaldi is already vice-president of the Prosecco DOC consortium and president of the Confagricoltura Treviso farmers' association.

The Federdoc confirmed Francesco Liantonio from Puglia (Consorzio di Tutela Vini DOC Castel del Monte) as Vice-President and appointed Filippo Mobrici from Piedmont (Consorzio Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato) as second Vice-President.

"There are many challenges that Federdoc will have to face in the coming years, especially in terms of sustainability and consumer safety," said Giangiacomo Gallarati Scotti Bonaldi after his election.
