The German Wine Institute (DWI) has once again supported the German Football Association (DFB) in the tendering and organization of a wine tasting. In the upcoming season, VIP guests will be able to taste an exclusive selection of German wines at the DFB's home international matches.

From over 300 submitted wines, a total of 20 wines were selected in several blind tasting rounds. They will be served starting in October 2025 in the VIP lounges at the home games of the women's and men's national teams, the men's U21, as well as at the two DFB Cup finals in Cologne and Berlin. The selection includes four red wines, four rosés, eight white wines, two sparkling wines, and two non-alcoholic variants from seven of the 13 German wine regions. Rheinhessen and the Palatinate are particularly well represented, jointly providing eleven of the selected wines. For the first time this season, winemakers will personally oversee the wine and sparkling wine bars at selected matches, allowing for direct interaction between guests and producers.

"The diverse range of German wines in the DFB's VIP areas offers football fans an excellent opportunity to discover high-quality local wines," says DWI Managing Director Melanie Broyé-Engelkes.

Since 2006, the DFB has relied on wines from Germany for its events. The premiere for part of the new selection will be on October 10 during the home match of the men's national team against Luxembourg in Sinsheim.
