The sales of German sparkling wine in domestic trade increased by 0.5 percent in 2024, reaching 246 million standard bottles (0.75 liters). This was announced by the Association of German Sparkling Wine Producers (VDS), which represents about 95 percent of sparkling wine production in Germany. Smaller and medium-sized businesses producing less than five million bottles per year had to accept a moderate decline of around 1.3 percent. Rosé sparkling wines currently hold a market share of 16 percent. The most popular flavors remained "dry" at 56 percent, followed by "semi-dry" at 31 percent.
The demand for de-alcoholized sparkling wines rose by 9.4 percent to 19.9 million bottles sold. Together with the non-alcoholic varieties, 266 million bottles of German sparkling wine were sold in the previous year, representing an increase of 1.1 percent. The share of non-alcoholic sparkling wines thus rose from 6.8 percent to around 7.5 percent.
