A seven-year legal dispute in the Bordelais over the use of the name Château Figeac has come to an end for the time being: a court of appeal in Bordeaux has confirmed the rights of use of the two defendant St. Emilion châteaux Cormeil-Figeac and Magnan-Figeac. In 2012, they had been sued by the Château Figeac owner family Manoncourt, claiming that the marketing of their wines with this name was not legal. The Manoncourts were the rights holders to the name Figeac. In the first instance, they were proven right.

With the decision made a few days ago, the two wineries are now allowed to continue using and marketing their names. At the same time, Château Figeac is also granted the right to further develop its name as a brand in the wine scene. The Manoncourt family possibly wants to continue the legal dispute in an appeal hearing at the Supreme Court.
