The well-known American "Star Wars" film director and producer George Lucas has taken over the Château Marguï vineyard in the south of France for 9.5 million euros. It is located near Brignoles north of Toulon.

The previous owners, the Guillanton family, have been cultivating the 15 hectares of vineyards organically for around 40 years, plus three hectares of olive trees and two hectares of fruit. Only a few kilometres away is Château Miraval, owned by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Lucas completed the purchase in April, but kept it secret until a few days ago.

For Lucas it is already the third winery: His other farms are located in Nicasio, California and Il Conventio in Umbria. The wines of the three estates are all marketed under his label "Skywalker Vineyards".
