The VDP winery Fürst Hohenlohe Oehringen*** (Baden-Württemberg) temporarily suspends its own wine production. As reported by the Heilbronner Stimme, the grapes from the approximately 17 hectares of vineyard will be sold this autumn. No wine will be produced from the current harvest in the cellar built in 2008 in the Öhringen district of Verrenberg. Another operation will also not produce any wine from the sold grapes that will be marketed under the name Fürst Hohenlohe Oehringen.

However, a sale of the winery is currently not planned. The vineyards are to continue to be managed ecologically. Owner Kraft Fürst zu Hohenlohe-Oehringen speaks of a "restructuring." It is still unclear what the future business model will look like and how long the current team will accompany the restructuring. The prince cites the difficult situation in the industry as the reason for the production stop. Wine consumption has significantly decreased in recent years. He emphasizes that the decision has nothing to do with the quality of the work or the wines. The sale of the remaining wines from the 2024 and 2025 vintages will continue.

For the traditional winery, this step represents a significant cut. According to its own statements, the princely house has been cultivating wine since 1253 and is now in its 27th generation. The operation is particularly known for Riesling, red wines aged in barriques, and its monopole Verrenberger Verrenberg.

According to the report, the restaurant Wiesenkelter, located opposite the winery, is not affected by the changes. The gastronomic operation is leased and run independently.
