The French wine export has dropped significantly due to the Covid crisis. From January to September 2020, 9.8 million hectoliters of wine worth 5.9 billion euro had been exported. This is a minus of 7.5 percent in volume as well as of 17 percent in value compared to the 2019 period. Converted, the price per liter had dropped by ten percent to about six euro. Champagne was particularly affected with a decline in sales of 28 percent, and Bordeaux with 24 percent. The decline in sales of Burgundy, however, is only eight percent.
