The owner of Château Latour, the 'French billionaire François Pinault, has taken over the Burgundy vineyard Clos de Tart in Morey-St.-Denis.

His holding company, Artémis Domaines, concluded a purchase agreement with the owner family Mommessin a few days ago. The purchase was preceded by fierce competition among several interested parties. According to various sources, the purchase price is said to have been just under 200 million euros. About 7.5 hectares of vineyards belong to Clos de Tart, divided into 27 plots. The farm has been working biodynamically for a few years.

The winery has an unbroken tradition since the 12th century. In 1141, Cistercian nuns of the Tart monastery first bought vineyards and called them "Clos de Tart". François Pinault is only the fourth owner in the over 900-year history of the estate.
