The Italian sparkling wine appellation Franciacorta set a new record last year: According to the protection consortium, over 19 million bottles were marketed in 2024. The average selling price per bottle was 24.52 euros. This brings the Italian premium sparkling wine closer in price to Champagne. Although it has not yet reached the premium price segments of the French competition, it significantly exceeds the average prices of other Italian sparkling wines.
"Despite global difficulties, Franciacorta was able to maintain its strength. The year 2024 ends with stable and encouraging results," explained Silvano Brescianini, president of the Franciacorta consortium. According to Brescianini, this is the result of a clear focus on quality and internationalization.
Thus, the appellation was able to further expand its export markets. Switzerland remains the most important foreign market, accounting for 22.1 percent of total exports, followed by the USA with a share of 12.6 percent. There is also increasing demand in Japan, Germany, and Belgium. Particularly, the USA shows consistent growth in both sales volume and value.
