Sommelier Florian Richter is switching from the Kronenschlösschen restaurant to the Schloss Vaux sparkling wine manufactory *** in Eltville (Rheingau) in June 2025. He will be responsible for the development of a new culinary experience concept.
Born in 1987, Richter hails from the Upper Palatinate and completed his training as a hotel specialist at the Best Western Berghotel Rehlegg in Ramsau in 2007. After two years as a bartender in his training establishment, he worked from 2009 to 2011 at the Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski in St. Moritz. From there, Richter came to the Rheingau. At Schloss Reinhartshausen, he was Chef de Rang in the hotel restaurant, and he furthered his education at the Heidelberg Hotel School to become a state-certified sommelier.
Since 2013, Richter has been the restaurant manager and head sommelier at the Hotel-Restaurant Kronenschlösschen in Hattenheim. Two years ago, he won the award for "Best Sommelier in Germany 2023" from the German Sommelier Union. He was a lecturer for sommeliers at the IHK Würzburg for seven years and is currently studying at the Court of Master Sommeliers in London. Additionally, he runs a wine business.
The Schloss Vaux sparkling wine house has been in existence since 1868 and moved from Berlin to Eltville in 1921. The parties involved have not yet commented specifically on Florian Richter's future role. "Vaux is currently working on an idea to make the philosophy, the sparkling wine, and the enjoyment experienceable in a new way," explains Richter. "Starting in June, I will shape and advance the creation and further development of the concept with the team around CEO Christoph Graf. It will be about enjoyment, culinary arts, and experience." The project is set to start in 2026.
