On 16 June, a joint presentation of natural wine producers from the Moselle region will take place for the first time in Traben-Trarbach. At the event, called "Nouvelle Moselle", twelve wineries will showcase their wines to an international audience together with fellow wineries from other German regions and Alsace. All of the producers grow their wines organically or biodynamically and take a minimalist approach to their cellar work. They see their methods as being as close to nature "as they once were here in the golden days of the Moselle". Their aim is to individualise the terroirs by avoiding synthetic fertilisers and herbicides. In so-called "Deep Talks", short lectures, topics such as "Why natural wine?", "What is biodynamics?", "Agro-forestry systems", "Working with bees and goats", "Urban history of the historic wine trade" are discussed.

What is striking about the Moselle winegrowers is that many of them did not originally grow up here, but are career changers from other professions, regions and countries. The title "Nouvelle Moselle" is therefore intended to express the combination of the Moselle's old wine tradition with the "youthful vigour of the steep-slope heroes". Tickets and the programme are available here.
