The famous fashion house Chanel has confirmed the purchase of a third winery in Bordelais. The luxury label has taken over Château Berliquet in St.Emilion for an undisclosed price. He already owns the Châteaux Canon as well as Rauzan-Ségla in Margaux. Berliquet is located in the immediate vicinity of Canon, the vineyards on a limestone plateau near St. Emilion border directly on each other. The winery has 24 hectares of vineyards, 75 percent of which are planted with Merlot, plus Cabernet Franc and about five percent Cabernet Sauvignon. About 18 hectares of this are currently under cultivation.

The company, which produces about 25,000 bottles per year, is to be continued independently, according to the Chanel-owning Wertheimer family. Nicolas Audebert, a winemaker, is responsible for the other two operations, where he will also act in an advisory capacity.
