The label manufacturer Etiket Schiller in Plüderhausen has introduced a sustainable finishing technique for wine labels. According to the manufacturer, it is now possible to create shiny metallic effects, iridescent colours, reliefs and embossing from certified compostable material. The environmentally friendly labels would not lose their recycling properties or compostability. The transfer layer of the finish has been tested according to DIN EN 13432 as a "harmless additive" for the composting process and allows a high-quality look while being environmentally friendly. Moreover, the materials used do not contain any ozone-depleting properties such as volatile halogenated hydrocarbons. Moreover, no harmful substances such as cadmium, lead, mercury or hexavalent chromium are used.
