The Italian winery Azienda Agricola Rivetto in Serralunga d'Alba is the first farm in Barolo and Barbaresco to be certified for its biodynamic production. The 2019 vintage, with a quantity of around 100,000 bottles, is the first with Demeter certification, the winery, with 15 hectares of vineyards, forest and agriculture, told the British "Decanter". In addition, the winery, founded in 1902, has planted 550 trees in the vineyards, as well as sowing corn, wheat, herbs and certain flowers to create biodiversity on the land. The co-owner and farm manager Enrico Rivetto has been working organically since 2009 and had the farm certified in 2016. He then worked on the conversion to biodynamics. There are many other organic farms in the region, but they are not certified.
