At the first wine competition of the association "Die junge Pfalz" a jury has selected 20 winegrowers under 35 years of age, who "should emphasize the dynamic development of the Palatinate and promote the entire wine-growing region and the protected designation of origin Palatinate nationwide". This was explained by Boris Kranz, chairman of Pfalzwein e.V. The jury of six experts was headed by Peer F. Holm, president of the Sommelier Union. First place was taken by Alexander Koch from the Bernhard Koch winery in Hainfeld. Bastian Klohr from the cooperative Weinbiet-Manufaktur in Neustadt-Mußbach followed in second place. Georg Diehl from the Borrell-Diehl winery, also in Hainfeld, took third place. Peer F. Holm praised the high level of the total of 310 wines from 62 wineries: "Sometimes nuances were the deciding factor in achieving a place among the top 20". The winners received their certificates at a ceremony at the Bergdolt, Reif and Nett winery in Duttweiler.

The competition was announced for the first time by Pfalzwein e.V. and replaces the previous competitions of the "Generation Pfalz" and the "Young Southern Palatinate".
