The 2019 vintage in Australia's Barossa Valley will be about 50 percent lower than in 2018. The reasons are massive hail at the end of November and heavy frost in September and November 2018, Australian media report. In the first weeks of 2019, extreme heat and drought have been added. The expected harvest is therefore the lowest in the last ten years.

The harvest in Barossa, where about 60 percent of the total Australian wine volume is brought in, will end in a few weeks.
