Château Grenouilles in Chablis is testing an electrically operated system to prevent damage from late frosts. With the help of this easy-to-use technology, it will be possible to do without the help of fires and torches, whose effects are difficult to assess. The French company Prysmian has developed a quick to install cable system with low voltage for heat production, which can prevent damage on an area of up to four hectares. The cables are UV-resistant, waterproof and cannot be attacked by pesticides. Maintenance is not necessary. The system guarantees efficiency for air temperatures down to minus ten degrees. Along the cable routes, the ground temperature is then around 15 to 20 degrees.
