On Friday, 29 September, the 69th German Wine Queen will be elected. Six finalists will be chosen from 13 candidates - the reigning German regional wine queens - in a preliminary decision.
The preliminary round will take place on Saturday, 23 September, in the Saalbau in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. Starting at 4 p.m., the young wine experts will have to answer challenging questions about winemaking, wine marketing and the handling of wine in a competent, understandable and concise manner - in German and English. In addition, the applicants will be given playful tasks in which they can show their spontaneity. At the end, a jury of 70 experts from the wine industry, politics and the media will select the six finalists. Many hundreds of fans are expected to support the candidates.
The competition can be followed live on the internet on the homepage of the German Wine Queen(www.deutscheweinkoenigin.de) and the SWR homepage(www.swr.de/weinkoenigin). The recording will be broadcast one day later, on 24 September, at 1.45 pm on SWR television.
