The owners of the Rhône vineyard Le Clos du Caillou, the Vacheron family, have taken over the Domaine de Panisse vineyard in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with around 13.5 hectares of rounded vineyards. The purchase price is not known. Domaine de Panisse already has nine hectares of vineyards in Châteauneuf. This is the third takeover within a few weeks in the southern French wine region. Negotiations were difficult because several renowned wine families wanted to buy Domaine de Panisse. However, the state-owned French sales agency Safer had decided in favour of the two siblings Vacheron, who are only 24 and 27 years old respectively, reports "Wine Spectator". They want to produce about 3,000 crates per year with the new operation.
