The German Wine Institute (DWI) organizes the competition "Excellent Wine Gastronomy 2021" despite the closure of the gastronomy due to the Corona crisis.

"In view of the extremely difficult situation in the catering trade due to the corona, we want to use our competition to support those businesses that are particularly committed to local wines," explained DWI Managing Director Monika Reule. "From the middle of next year, when hopefully more normality will have returned, they will be able to benefit from the media impact of the competition", said Reule.

The prizes are awarded in various categories, from gourmet and upscale gastronomy, hotel and international gastronomy to wine bars and restaurants. For seven years now, a renowned jury of experts has been deciding on the winners of the competition, including Paula Bosch, Christina Fischer and Gunnar Tietz, as well as Gabriele Heins, deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine "Der Feinschmecker", and Otto J. Völker, managing director of the mineral water bottler Selters.

In addition to the offer, the jury also evaluates how the wines are presented in the menu and by the service. In addition, wine events or the qualifications of employees are also included in the evaluation.

Interested parties can now register at: www.awg.deutscheweine.de The closing date for applications is 31 March 2021 and the winners in each category will receive prize money of 3,000 euros.
