The German Wine Institute (DWI) has once again awarded wine specialists for their exceptional achievements in consulting, range design, and customer care in collaboration with the trade magazine Wein+Markt.
This time, the award went to Weinkellerei Höchst by Bührmann (Frankfurt-Höchst), Weinrefugium (Heidelberg), Weinselection (Hamburg), as well as Kölner Wein Depot and Wine Museum. The jury evaluated not only consulting and service but also presentation, ambiance, and creative offerings. The winners impressed with commitment, passion, and innovative concepts.
The "Weinkellerei Höchst by Bührmann" in Frankfurt offers over 2,500 wines in the ambiance of a historic factory hall. The offerings from branch manager Melih Günsel impress with customer proximity, expertise, and creative formats such as the radio show "Wine o’clock." The "Weinrefugium" in Heidelberg specializes in biodynamic wines and combines a high-quality range with events and educational initiatives, for example, in cooperation with Geisenheim University. The wine trade "Weinselection" in Hamburg, on the other hand, is a traditional house with a large range and personal consulting, offering seminars and tasting events in cooperation with the gastronomy.
This year, the jury found the best overall concept in the "Kölner Wein Depot and Wine Museum." The family business, led by brothers Markus and Frank Wittling, includes 1,700 wines and its own wine museum. According to DWI, it uniquely combines trade, education, and experiential wine culture.
The winners received vouchers worth nearly 6,000 euros in total. Additionally, they will participate as jury members in the election of the German Wine Majesty in 2026. The awards were presented on October 12 in Wermelskirchen.
