The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture has awarded the Federal Wine Prize 2017 of the DLG. On 26 October, 23 wineries received this award in Stuttgart. In addition, the DLG awarded the prize for Winemaker of the Year, Young Winemaker of the Year and Best Young Winemaker Association.

The Bundesehrenpreis in gold and the award "Winemaker of the Year 2017/2018" went to Markus Busch from the Karl Busch Winery in Bretzfeld-Dimbach (Württemberg), the Bundesehrenpreis in silver 2017 to the Toni Müller Winery in Koblenz-Güls (Moselle).

The DLG awarded the Bundesehrenpreis Sekt in Gold and the title "Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year 2017/2018" to the sparkling wine estate St. Laurentius in Leiwen (Moselle), the Bundesehrenpreis Sekt in Silver went to the Alfons Ziegler winery in St. Martin (Palatinate) and the Bundesehrenpreis Sekt in Bronze went to the Bernard-Massard sparkling wine producer in Trier (Moselle).

The competition "Young Winemaker of the Year 2017/2018" was won by Laura Weber from Weingut Weber in Monzingen (Nahe), second place was won by Peter Graf from Weingut Graf von Weyher in Weyher (Palatinate) and third place by Christoph Kern from Weingut Wilhelm Kern in Kernen (Württemberg). Vinas from Heppenheim (Hessische Bergstrasse) was chosen as the best young wine association.
