The sales of Crémant wines have developed positively despite the global sales crisis in the wine scene. Since 2016, their sales have increased by 47 percent. The trend continued last year: In 2024, 114.5 million bottles of Crémant were sold, which corresponds to an increase of 5.9 percent compared to the previous year. Already in 2023, sales had risen by 5.7 percent compared to 2022.

The Crémant d’Alsace (+40.9%) remains particularly in demand, followed by Crémant de Loire (+26.8%) and Crémant de Bourgogne (+23.6%). In contrast to Champagne, all eight protected Crémant appellations are showing significant increases.

According to Dominique Furlan, president of the producers' association FNPEC (Fédération Nationale des Producteurs et Élaborateurs de Crémant), Crémant has now firmly established itself in consumer behavior and has reached new target groups. This positive development is a strong basis for the future value increase of production, Furlan said.

In France, 60 percent of Crémant is sold. The various distribution channels continue to report stable demand there. Abroad, Crémant is also growing as one of the few French appellations. The export countries Germany, Great Britain, and Australia are particularly important.
