The Chilean wine group Concha y Toro intends to acquire a majority stake in the rosé winery Maison Mirabeau in Provence. The goal of the merger is new growth in the premium segment, announced the wine giant.

Mirabeau was founded in 2010 by the British couple Stephen and Jeany Cronk (in the picture) and has developed into one of the leading Provence wineries for rosé. The wines are distributed in Europe and more than 40 countries and are particularly well represented in Great Britain. There, Mirabeau is considered one of the most important suppliers of Provence rosé for the gastronomy. The estate covers 20 hectares, of which 14 hectares are vineyards in the AOC Côtes de Provence.

Concha y Toro distributes wines from a total of 12,000 hectares of vineyard area in Chile, Argentina, Spain, Mexico, and the USA under the brands Casillero del Diablo, Diablo, Don Melchor, Trivento, and Bonterra. According to CEO Eduardo Guilisasti, the acquisition "opens the door to a highly relevant new origin region" for the group. "Maison Mirabeau is considered one of the most valuable brands in the French rosé segment," he said. Mirabeau is to continue operating with minimal internal changes. Existing distribution networks and agreements are also to be maintained to support further market development.

The financial details have not been disclosed. The relevant authorities in France and Chile still need to approve the contract.
