Château Haut-Bages Libéral in Pauillac says it has launched the first Bordeaux Cru Classé without sulphur. According to Claire Villars-Lurton, owner of Château Haut-Bages Libéral, the new wine called Cérès, made from 100 per cent Merlot, is "one of the most innovative wines in Bordeaux". The first 2020 vintage of the Haut-Médoc AOC comes from a biodynamically managed vineyard and was produced without the addition of sulphur, Villars-Lurton explained. The sale of a natural wine is a premiere for the traders who specialise in Grand Cru wines, Villars-Lurton continued. A change is currently underway in Bordeaux, he said, and they are increasingly focusing "on new types of wines". The Cérès will be available in wine shops for 20 to 22 euros.
