The world famous Château d'Yquem in Sauternes has converted its vineyards to certified organic cultivation. The first harvest according to organic standards is scheduled for autumn 2022. Oenologist Sandrine Garbay explained that preparations for the conversion had already started in August 2019.

The team has now spent almost two years testing various organic methods and working practices in half of the 100 hectares of vineyards. The 2020 vintage is the first to be produced entirely organically. This year, however, there is a great danger of the spread of mildew, which the outdoor operation must now deal with using the new approach.
