Château d'Yquem 2019 will not go on sale until March 2022 instead of September 2021, as was previously the case. This was announced by managing director Pierre Lurton in a letter to traders and négociants. This allows the Château to optimise the maturity as well as "the introduction of our new marketing campaign in the first months of 2022". He also announced that the dry white wine "Y d'Yquem" 2020 would be sold separately for the first time this year. The first date of sale would be 21 September 2021.

Lurton explained that one of the first steps of this new marketing strategy was the postponement of the sales launch of Château d'Yquem 2019, of which only a few bottles could be produced. "With only around half of a normal harvest, we have decided to release 95 per cent of the production, which we already know will not be enough to meet demand," Lurton wrote.
