The classified Bordeaux-Château Cantenac Brown in Margaux plans the new construction of all company buildings according to a strictly ecological concept. According to the owner Tristan le Lou, the architect Philippe Madec is currently designing the new buildings using natural materials such as raw earth and wood. He wants to dispense with concrete and cement in favour of organic materials from the surrounding area. In this way he wants to achieve a zero CO2 footprint. Wine production is also to be geared to the highest ecological standards. For example, the cooling of the barrels is to function without electrical climate control, and he wants to do without pumps using gravity. In the future, the winemaker José Sanfins will focus on ageing in small barrels in order to be able to blend the wine from the different plots of land precisely. By 2023 the new building of Château Cantenac Brown should be finished.
