Champagne mourns the death of Alain Fion. According to the Bureau du Champagne in Germany and Austria, the former representative of the Comité Champagne died in Reutlingen on 26 August 2020. Fion (in the photo on the right with, from left to right, Günter Schöneis, Hape Kerkeling and Bruno Paillard) was director of the Bureau from 1971 to 2008.

Vincent Perrin, General Director of the Comité Champagne, pays tribute to the deceased: "Alain Fion, through his knowledge, dedication and elegance, established an exceptional relationship of trust with the people of Champagne. The Comité Champagne will keep his work for the benefit of Champagne in his adopted country, Germany, in honourable memory."

Jean-Luc Barbier, General Director of the Comité Champagne from 2004 to 2014, testifies to his friendship with the Champagne Ambassador: "I keep the memory of an assertive, competent, discreet but warm man with whom I have remained in close and friendly contact for many years."
