The Italian Campari spirits group wants to take over the Lallier champagne house in Aÿ. According to a Campari press release, the company is in exclusive negotiations with Ficoma, the family holding of Francis Tribaut, the owner of Lallier. According to this, Campari wants to acquire 80 percent of the share capital and to take over the holding with further companies and participations completely in the medium term.

Lallier was founded in 1906 in Aÿ and currently has about 50 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards with 60 percent Pinot Noir and 40 percent Chardonnay. The production is about 700,000 bottles per year.

If the purchase is completed, Campari would be the first Italian company to be owned by a Champagne producer.
