Germany imported around 258 million litres (+1%) of bulk wine in the first four months of 2021 and thus remains the world's most important market for bulk wine in terms of volume. In the UK, on the other hand, imports fell by 14.2% in the same period. According to the data of the customs authorities of the different countries evaluated by the "Bulk Wine Club", Great Britain has accumulated considerable stocks in 2020 in view of the Brexit and possible import duties, which explains the decline. Imports were also down in France (-14.5%), Italy (-15.7%) and Portugal (-4.3%). Noticeable growth was recorded in the US market, where 11.2% more bulk wine was imported than in the same period in 2020.

However, with a turnover of 159.6 million euros, Great Britain is the world leader, followed by the USA with 132.8 million euros. The average price per litre of bulk wine in the UK is 1.14 euros, while in the USA 0.95 euros and in Germany even only 0.60 euros per litre are paid.
