The famous Italian winery owner Bruno Giacosa from Neive in the Langhe region (Piedmont) died a few days ago at the age of 88. Born in 1929, Giacosa was one of the world's most famous producers of Barolo and Barbaresco. Since the 1960s, together with Angelo Gaja, he was one of the winemakers whose wines made Piedmont world-famous.

In 1964, he bottled wines from his single vineyards himself for the first time - at that time, this was still very unusual. Giacosa's wines from the Arneis variety, which was hardly known at the time, received great recognition in the 1970s and brought the grape variety back into cultivation.

His two wineries, Azienda Agricola Falletto and Casa Vinicola Bruno Giacosa, have been run by his daughter Bruna Giacosa for several years.
