The French-Swiss real estate billionaire Jacky Lorenzetti has acquired Château Lafon-Rochet from the Tesseron family for an undisclosed amount. Lorenzetti also owns Château Pedesclaux in Pauillac and Lilian Ladouys in St.-Estèphe, as well as 50 per cent of Château d'Issan in Margaux. Emmanuel Cruse, director of Lorenzetti's wine estates, explained to the "Wine Spectator": "If you have already invested in St.-Estèphe and Pauillac and the opportunity to buy a wine estate like Lafon-Rochet presents itself, you don't say no. It is certainly one of the biggest terroirs in the world. It is certainly one of the greatest terroirs of St.-Estéphe". What makes Lafon-Rochet special is the fact that the 45 hectares of vineyards surround the château in a contiguous parcel. Basile Tesseron, whose family also owns Château Pontet-Canet in Pauillac, will still be in charge of the 2021 harvest.
