The French-Amrican wine company Boisset has presented a wine to commemorate the Allied landing in Normandy 75 years ago. It is named after the date 6.6.44. On this day 160,000 American soldiers entered French soil, marking the end of the Second World War. The red wine is made from French and American grapes and also commemorates the ancestors of the Boisset family who were active in the French resistance against the Nazis.

The cuvée is composed of French wines from the Gamay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Petit Verdot grape varieties from Languedoc, the Rhône, Beaujolais and Burgundy. They were blended with Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah and Malbec from the Californian Russian River Valley and Napa Valley. In the USA the "6.6.44" costs around 44 dollars.

In California, Boisset owns the vineyards Raymond Vineyards, Buena Vista Winery, DeLoach Vineyards and JCB by Jean-Charles Boisset. In France, the family is the owner of the Domaine de la Vougeraie, by Jean-Claude Boisset, Bouchard Aîné et Fils, J. Moreau et Fils, Louis Bouillot, Domaines Henri Maire, Fortant and Bonpas.
