The Swiss Bindella family of entrepreneurs takes over the Le Casalte wine estate in the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano growing region from the Barioffi family for 17 million euros. Founded in 1975, the estate owns 13 hectares of vineyards in Sant'Albino, south-east of Montepulciano. Le Casalte produces Vino Nobile, Rosso di Montepulciano and IGT Toscana. Since 1999, Chiara Barioffi has managed the winery and worked, among others, with the star oenologist Giulio Gambelli, who specialises in Sangiovese.

Bindella is one of the largest wine importers in Switzerland with an annual turnover of 200 million euros. The company already owns the Vallocaia winery in Montepulciano. Rudi Bindella bought it in 1983 and enlarged it from 2.5 hectares to 53 hectares today.
