The wine merchant Berry Bros & Rudd (BBR) in London is planning to build a wine warehouse for private customers with a capacity for 14 million bottles. According to the company, this will create the largest warehouse for private collections in Europe. According to Berry Bros & Rudd, it will be operated climate-neutrally as it generates its own energy and has a rainwater harvesting system as well as charging stations for electric vehicles. The bottles will be able to be stored there in an environment with optimal temperature and humidity control under the highest security conditions.

"Our global private customers want to create personal wine cellars, and state-of-the-art facilities and security are critical for quality and provenance. In doing so, we aim to position the UK as a leader in Europe and the world for fine wine collecting, said Edward Rudd, director of corporate investment at Berry Bros & Rudd. Britain's oldest wine merchant currently stores premium wines for more than 37,000 customers. Construction has begun and the facility is due to be completed by summer 2022.
