At the annual general meeting of the Barrique Forum Pfalz e.V., the members voted in favour of a new orientation and a change of name. With the decision to adapt the guidelines, the members are opening up to new approaches. Due to these changes, the association deletes the name suffix "Barrique" and will officially appear as "Forum Pfalz e.V. - Der kleine Kreis für Große Weine" in the future. Another significant change is the admission of white wines in the repertoire of Great Wines. In the future, the members will thus also show top white wines from their assortment in addition to the previous top red wines aged in barriques. In Focus According to the Forum, the further development includes the opening and modernisation of the statutes without neglecting the roots of the association. Before the end of this year

the first changes are to come into force. In addition, the member companies are being reorganised. Accordingly, a four-level classification will be introduced, according to which the wineries will reorganise their operations: In future, the members' ranges will be uniformly divided into "area wines", "local wines", "site wines" and "grand wines". According to the association, all wineries should be converted in three years at the latest. New rules will also apply to the vinification of red and white wines. Grape varieties, maximum yields per hectare and residual sugar have been defined for the respective quality levels. For red wines, the grape varieties Pinot Noir, Syrah and Cuvées are permitted. For white wines, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc complete the programme.
