A Richebourg Grand Cru 1978 from the legendary Burgundy winemaker Henri Jayer is the most expensive magnum bottle auctioned in 2024. It fetched around 117,000 euros at an online auction held by the Geneva-based auction house Baghera Wines on December 23. A magnum of Vosne Romanée Cros Parantoux Premier Cru 1993 changed hands for around 71,000 euros, nearly doubling its estimated value. Just at the end of November, ten bottles of Cros Parantoux 1999 from the collection of Taiwanese billionaire Pierre Chen achieved the highest price ever at auction, totaling 219,160 euros. Henri Jayer transformed the Cros Parantoux vineyard, located above Richebourg, into a vineyard using dynamite in the mid-20th century.

What makes both bottles special is that they come directly from the cellar of Henri Jayer, who passed away in 2006. They were reportedly in nearly perfect condition.
