The 64th wine auction of the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges generated a total revenue of 856,950 euros. This figure is significantly below last year's result. The reason for this is the very low harvest quantity in 2024. In contrast, the average price per barrel rose by over 40 percent.

The total revenue from the auction on March 9 at the Clos de Vougeot castle consists of 796,000 euros for the barrels from the 2024 vintage and 60,950 euros for bottles from matured vintages. This included 240 bottles and 120 magnums from the winery's wine library. The wines were from the years 2005 to 2017. For the first time, the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges also provided wines from earlier vintages to partially compensate for the low production quantity of 2024.

The 2024 vintage is considered one of the most challenging in Burgundy in recent decades. The harvest quantity in the region was about a quarter lower than the previous year. This year, only 36.5 barrels were auctioned instead of 150 barrels last year; in 2023, there were 160 barrels. These quantity losses were reflected in the revenues for both years: The total revenue in 2025 collapsed by more than 62 percent compared to 2024, after it had already decreased by over 36 percent in 2024 compared to 2023.

As a result, prices at the auction rose significantly due to the low production quantity: The average price per barrel climbed to 22,422.50 euros; this is 41.5 percent more than last year, when a barrel averaged 15,843.75 euros. The most expensive wine at the auction was the Cuvée de Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Cuvée des Sires de Vergy, which sold for 55,000 euros.

This year's charity barrel was a white wine for the first time: the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Terres Blanches. This barrel raised 53,900 euros, which will go to the organization "Coucou nous voilou". They support seriously ill children and adolescents.
